January 13, 2021The Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) has created an Optional Practical Training (OPT) Employment Compliance Unit to ensure that "the duties, hours, and compensation of a foreign student who participates in the program [are] commensurate with terms and conditions applicable to the employer’s similarly situated U.S. workers." The unit will work full-time on compliance "within OPT, the OPT extension, and Curricular Practical Training." The unit will publish its findings annually, with the first report scheduled for July 31, 2021. [ID# 1291]
