DHS issues notice of compliance with preliminary injunction maintaining TPS for El Salvador, Nicaragua, Sudan, and Haiti

    In compliance with a preliminary injunction order from Oct. 3, 2018, DHS announces that TPS holders from Nicaragua, Sudan, Haiti, and El Salvador will retain their status while the injunction remains in place. DHS also extends work authorization for Sudanese and Nicaraguan TPS holders through Apr. 2, 2019. [ID #56]

    On September 14, 2020, the Ninth Circuit overturned and lifted the 2018 district court injunction which had temporarily blocked the Trump Administration's plans to terminate TPS for El Salvador, Haiti, Nicaragua and Sudan. A motion for rehearing en banc is currently due 11/30/20. Ramos v. Nielsen (N.D. Cal. Case No. 3:18-cv-01554); (Ninth Cir. Case No. 18-16981).
