July 8, 2020EOIR announces its plan to propose regulations to amend the implementation of section 235 of the TVPRA of 2008 regarding unaccompanied children in asylum and immigration proceedings. EOIR will amend its regulations to reflect that USCIS has initial jurisdiction over any asylum application filed by a UAC. EOIR will also be proposing new procedures regarding UAC interviews before asylum officers and in proceedings before immigration judges and will revise the rules regarding UACs and voluntary departure.
