Reports that DHS considers instant DNA testing at border

  1. Date Announced

    April 4, 2019

DHS is reportedly considering the use of ANDE, an automated DNA testing system to “allow border officials to assess within two hours whether immigrants claiming to be in the same family are telling the truth.” The FBI had approved ANDE use in June 2018, and ICE may also begin using the system. However, “DHS has made no announcement about using ANDE on the southern border or by immigration officers processing visa and green card applications.” [ID #392]
