    November 20, 2025

The Associated Press (AP) reports that Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is using surveillance and predictive intelligence to flag vehicles with a history of driving patterns deemed "suspicious." CBP uses a network of license-plate readers and cameras on roadways near borders and throughout the U.S. interior, and then passes information about vehicles deemed targets to local law enforcement to pull over and detain drivers. CBP's database has grown increasingly powerful through collaborations with other agencies, private companies, and local law-enforcement programs funded through federal grants.
