January 20, 2025Presidential Proclamation 10886 declares a national emergency at the U.S.-Mexico border. Pursuant to this national emergency, the Proclamation calls for using U.S. armed forces to "support the Federal Government's response" at the southern border. Among other things, it revokes Proclamation 10142 of January 20, 2021 (Termination of Emergency With Respect to the Southern Border of the United States and Redirection of Funds Diverted to Border Wall Construction).

President Trump continued the 2025 national emergency declared in Proclamation 10886 for an additional year beyond its anniversary date of January 20, stating that the “circumstances related to these emergencies continue to pose unusual and extraordinary threats to the national security, foreign policy, or economy of the United States.”
