DHS terminates all advisory committee members

    Acting DHS Secretary Benjamine Huffman issued a memorandum terminating all current memberships on advisory committees within DHS, effective immediately. The memo states that this decision is aligned with DHS's "commitment to eliminating the misuse of resources and ensuring that DHS activities prioritize our national security."

      2025.03.12 DHS Notice of Termination of Discretionary Federal Advisory Committees

      DHS announced that it would it would terminate several discretionary federal advisory committees. The termination comes in response to EO 14217 "Commencing the Reduction of the Federal Bureaucracy" (Feb. 19, 2025, https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2025/02/25/2025-03133/commencing-the-reduction-of-the-federal-bureaucracy), which directed senior administration officials to identify "unnecessary governmental entities and Federal Advisory Committees that should be terminated."

      The list of DHS federal advisory communities to be terminated includes: The Homeland Security Academic Partnership Council, Tribal Homeland Security Advisory Council, Artificial Intelligence Safety and Security Board, Public-Private Analytic Exchange Program, Homeland Security Science and Technology Advisory Committee, Cyber Investigations Advisory Board, Critical Infrastructure Partnership Advisory Council, and Data Privacy and Integrity Advisory Committee.
