December 10, 2025The Washington Post reports that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has awarded a nearly $140 million contract to buy six Boeing 737s to Daedalus Aviation, which offers commercial and charter aviation services. DHS will operate its own deportation fleet after increased funding from Congress. A former DHS official said the goal is likely to expand capacity for both removals and domestic transfers. Earlier administrations considered similar plans but rejected them due to high costs and logistical challenges of running an aircraft fleet.
