January 20, 2025Section 9 of Presidential EO 14159, "Protecting the American People Against Invasion," directs Secretary of Homeland Security to apply expedited removal authority to full extent authorized by 8 USC 1225(b)(1)(A)(iii)(II). Section 9 also directs DHS to "use all other provisions of the immigration laws or other Federal law . . . to ensure the efficient and expedited removal of aliens from the United States," including but not limited to 8 USC 1228, which allows for the expedited removal of noncitizens convicted of aggravated felonies, and 8 USC 1229a(d), which allows for stipulated removals.
