POTUS issues EO 13828, ordering several agencies to restrict immigrant access to public assistance programs

    POTUS issues Executive Order 13828, directing the Departments of Treasury, Agriculture, Commerce, Labor, Health and Human Services, Housing and Urban Development, Transportation, and Education to adopt policies ensuring “that only eligible persons receive benefits” and enforce all laws such that “aliens who are not otherwise qualified and eligible may not receive benefits.” To that effect, each agency has ninety days to submit a report stating the agency is complying with 8 U.S.C. § 1611(a) and listing all federal benefit programs the agency administers that are restricted by 8 U.S.C. § 1611 and listing all federal benefit programs that the agency administers that are not restricted by 8 U.S.C. § 1611.
