October 9, 2020According to a memo obtained by the San Francisco Chronicle, DOJ has suspended all diversity and inclusion events for its employees -- including immigration judges -- regardless of whether attendance is required or even permitted on Government-paid time. The memo is in response to an executive order issued by President Trump that labeled bias sensitivity training as “offensive and anti-American race and sex stereotyping and scapegoating.”

On February 16, 2023, the White House issued an Executive Order on Further Advancing Racial Equity and Support for Underserved Communities Through the Federal Government, which builds on Executive Order 13985. The order requires agencies to create an annual public Equity Action Plan, investigate and address algorithmic discrimination, and enhance their community engagement and outreach.
