The U.S. Department of State has updated its procedural guidelines related to Form DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application for many consular posts. Form DS-160 must be submitted by visa applicants at least 48-72 working hours (two to three business days) prior to the visa interview at the U.S. embassy or consulate.

Additionally, the Form DS-160 submitted prior to the visa interview must be the same one used to schedule to the visa interview, as indicated by the confirmation barcode number listed on the form. If the Form DS-160 confirmation barcode number does not match the barcode number on the appointment confirmation, the consulate may refuse to allow the applicant to interview and may require the applicant to reschedule the interview.
