CBP Orders Collection of Biometric Data of Noncitizen Children Under 14 Encountered Between Ports of Entry

    U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) memo dated February 12, 2025, ordered Border Patrol agents to collect biometric information of "alien minors encountered between ports of entry, regardless of age...including fingerprints, facial images, and other available modalities." The order further states that it “supersedes all previous guidance” that excluded children under 14 years of age encountered between the ports of entry from the collection of biometric data.
