Reported: Trump administration provides air passenger data to immigration agents

  1. Original Date Announced

    December 12, 2025

The New York Times reports that the Transportation Security Administration provides a list "multiple times a week" to ICE with the names of air travelers. ICE can then match this list against its own database of people with final removal orders and send agents to the airport to detain those individuals.

This partnership between ICE and TSA reportedly began in March 2025. It is unclear how many arrests have been made as a result of the collaboration, but a former ICE official said that 75% of the instances in that official’s region where names were flagged yielded arrest. Tricia McLaughlin, spokeswoman for DHS, stated "[t]he message to those in the country illegally is clear: The only reason you should be flying is to self-deport home."
