March 17, 2026A letter from 41 Senate Democrats to outgoing DHS Secretary Noem and USCIS Director Edlow states that many casework staff have been informed that USCIS has frozen DACA renewal processing for individuals from the 39 countries subject to President Trump’s national-security proclamations. The letter also states that DACA recipients are generally reporting “significant processing delays” in renewing their status. The letter emphasizes the increased risk of detention and deportation when applications are not renewed before DACA status expires and demands that DHS reduce the processing delays.
