  1. Original Date Announced

    December 23, 2025

The State Department announced in a press release that it is imposing visa restrictions on five individuals who "have led organized efforts to coerce American platforms to censor, demonetize, and suppress American viewpoints they oppose." These individuals will now be barred from entering the United States and, if they do enter the country, may be subject to removal proceedings. The press release states that these actions are pursuant to § 212(a)(3)(C) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, which renders inadmissible to the U.S. any individual whose entry would have "potentially serious adverse foreign policy consequences."
