State Department sanctions officials of the Palestinian Authority and members of the Palestine Liberation Organization

    The United States imposed sanctions barring visas for members of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and officials of the Palestinian Authority (PA). The State Department reported that the PLO and PA have not complied with the PLO Commitments Compliance Act of 1989 and the Middle East Peace Commitments Act of 2002, stating that the organizations violated the Acts "by initiating and supporting actions at international organizations that undermine and contradict prior commitments . . ., taking actions to internationalize its [sic] conflict with Israel . . ., continuing to support terrorism including incitement and glorification of violence . . ., and providing payments and benefits in support of terrorism to Palestinian terrorists and their families."
