Reported: DOJ grants DOGE access to ECAS data

  1. Original Date Announced

    April 21, 2025

The Washington Post reports that representatives from the U.S. Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) have been approved to access EOIR's Courts and Appeals System. ECAS is used to store records of immigrants who have interacted with the U.S. immigration system, and contains (among other things) information concerning immigrants' names, addresses, previous immigrant court testimony, and any history of engagement with law enforcement. DOJ staff have been instructed to create ECAS accounts for the DOGE team, but the Washington Post could not confirm whether the access has been granted yet or why it was sought.
