USCIS announces new Vetting Center

    U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced its "Vetting Center," a new specialized unit to focus on "screen[ing] out terrorists, criminal [noncitizens], and other foreign nationals who pose potential threats to public safety or who have committed fraud or other crimes." The new center will review pending visa applications and retroactively review already-approved applications, using technology including AI and collaborating with other law-enforcement and intelligence agencies: "Reviews will prioritize applications from presidentially designated countries of concern."
