2025.11.27 New York Times - Trump Administration Pauses Immigration From Afghanistan After D.C. Shooting
The New York Times explains that the pause on immigration requests from Afghan nationals will impact those already in the U.S. seeking asylum, a green card, or other benefits from USCIS, as well as Afghans who applied to relocate to the U.S. through the Special Immigrant Visa program after providing assistance to the U.S. government during the war in Afghanistan. Many of these applicants are still hiding in Afghanistan or are stranded in other countries.
