April 28, 2025USCIS announced that Form I-800A, “Application for Determination of Suitability to Adopt a Child from a Convention Country,” had been updated and that the January 20, 2025 edition will be required as of May 28, 2025.
The update excludes the option to mark that the applicant's spouse is a U.S. citizen on page 7. Under the section titled "Information About Your Spouse," the new form replaces the option of "Your spouse: ... Is a citizen of the United States ..." with "Your spouse: Is a national, but not a citizen of the United States through [ ] Birth in the United States; [ ] Parent(s); [ ] Naturalization."
This form change did not go through a public notice and comment period.
