Original Date Announced
September 16, 2025USCIS issued a notice and request for comments on the reinstatement and proposed changes to Form I-945, Public Charge Bond. USCIS uses Form I-945 to ensure that bond conditions are fully articulated and met when USCIS accepts the public charge bond posting.
Proposed changes include adding information about a filing fee and associated forms, adding the U.S. Department of State (DOS) as an entity involved in setting conditions for public charge bonds, including information about the potential need for a biometric services appointment, adding more detailed information about Alien Registration Numbers, and allowing an option to submit either a Form I-485 Receipt Number, a Department of State Consular Case Number, or a DOS Diversity Visa Case Number rather than only a Form I-485 Receipt Number.
Comments are accepted for 60 days until November 17, 2025.
