USCIS revises policy concerning the validity of Form I-693, Report of Immigration Medical Examination and Vaccination Record

  1. Original Date Announced

    June 11, 2025

USCIS issued a policy alert stating that it is changing its policy to reflect that Form I-693, Report of Immigration Medical Examination and Vaccination Record, will be generally valid only for the immigration benefit application for which it was submitted. Form I-693 is used by applicants for adjustment of status to establish that they are not inadmissible to the United States on health-related grounds.

Policy guidance from April 2024 provided that Form I-693 did not expire and could be used as evidence for adjustment of status as well as for the purpose of any future immigration benefit application. USCIS states that the April 2024 policy is “overly broad,” and that the revision “ensures that aliens obtain timely and proper medical examinations and treatment to safeguard public health.”
