June 26, 2017USCIS publishes new Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence of Adjust Status. The new form eliminates the need to file a Form G-325A, includes a list of 27 immigrant categories which allows applicants to identify the specific immigrant category under which they are applying, and updates admissibility-related questions. The form triples in length from six to eighteen pages. New questions include, among others, whether the applicant has ever been denied a visa or admission to U.S., ever violated the terms of a nonimmigrant visa, ever entered without inspection, etc. Other questions have been reworded or expanded.
