Reported: CBP rescinds 2022 "Non-Citizen Migrant Entry Safety Guidance"

    According to The American Prospect, CBP issued a memo rescinding prior 2022 Biden-administration guidance that limited certain CBP actions during border interdictions. The article includes that 2022 guidance, instructing CBP agents not to apprehend or arrest migrants in waterways, on the border fence, and amid barriers; not to force or guide individuals back into waterways or other unsafe environments; and prohibiting forcible removals of migrants at the border. The new memo states that the 2022 guidance "imposed significant restrictions on interdiction tactics, . . . which diminished the ability of agents to respond proactively to illegal crossings."
