  1. Original Date Announced

    February 25, 2025

According to a complaint filed by the Electronic Privacy Information Center, DHS rescinded its “Privacy Policy for DHS Mobile Applications.” The Privacy Policy governed mobile applications “developed by, on behalf of, or in coordination with the Department.” It placed limitations on DHS mobile apps’ collection or use of personally identifying or sensitive information, and established procedures for authorization in case the collection or use of such information was necessary. The complaint alleges that since approximately February 25, 2025, DHS has characterized the Privacy Policy as “archived content" on its website. Electronic Privacy Information Center v. Mullin, No. 3:26-cv-04232 (S.D. Cal.).
