    DOJ eliminates the probationary period for IJs hired as Board Members, as evidenced in a hiring recommendation memo from the EOIR Director to AG Barr. In a lengthy footnote justifying the recent change in practice, the memo indicates that current IJs converting to appellate IJ positions will receive permanent appointments.
