DOS proposes changes to Form DS-260, Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration Application, and seeks approval for continued collection of information

    On July 9, 2025, the State Department announced in the Federal Register that it is proposing changes to Form DS-260, the Electric Application for Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration. The agency will discontinue the paper version of the form (DS-230) effective November 1, 2025, and has opened a 60-day comment period. The updated DS-260 limits applicants' ability to provide explanatory information and cannot be amended after submission.
