DOS requires Diversity Visa Program petitioners to provide more passport information

    DOS interim final rule, amending 22 CFR 42.33(b)(1), requires that Diversity Visa Program petitioners include on the electronic diversity visa entry form the unique serial or issuance number associated with a valid, unexpired passport; country or authority of passport issuance; and passport expiration date (with certain exceptions).     This Biden administration policy revokes in its entirety the Trump-era policy identified in this entry.

    In response to the District Court's ruling vacating the Trump-era rule, the State Department issued a regulation removing from the Code of Federal Regulations the Trump-era requirement that principal entrants include on the electronic diversity visa entry form certain information, including the unique serial or issuance number associated with the principal's valid, unexpired passport.
