IJ complaint processing moves from EOIR courts to EOIR Director's office

  1. Original Date Announced

    October 15, 2018

EOIR revises its procedures for handling complaints against IJs, Board Members, and ALJs, moving complaint management from its court components -- OCIJ, BIA, and OCAHO -- to a "Judicial Conduct and Professionalism Unit" (JCPU) under the control of the Director's Office. Under the new process, the JCPU decides what constitutes a complaint and what merits attention. The new process also includes a mechanism for IJs to complain about Board Members.
