February 9, 2017POTUS issues Executive Order 13773, "Enforcing Federal Law with Respect to Transnational Criminal Organizations and Preventing International Trafficking," prioritizing investigation and prosecution of transnational criminal organizations, including for human trafficking, through information sharing, collaboration, and increasing use of the interagency Threat Mitigation Working Group (TMWG) established under President Obama. The EO includes as a policy priority "where appropriate and to the extent permitted by law, the swift removal from the United States of foreign nationals who are members of such organizations." The EO also directs TMWG to submit a report on transnational criminal organizations within 120 days, by June 9, 2017. [ID #248]
