  1. Original Date Announced

    October 13, 2026

A complaint filed in the District Court for the District of Columbia describes and challenges a de facto policy in which Immigration and Customs Enforcement ("ICE") seizes property from detainees and deprives these individuals of their property long after the legitimate governmental interest in the property has ended (e.g., long after release). Gonzalez v. U.S. Dep't of Homeland Security, No. 1:26-cv-03564, (D.D.C.).
