ICE overhauls dress code for deportation officers, bans jeans and T-shirts

  1. Original Date Announced

    July 21, 2026

According to a leaked internal memorandum issued by Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) chief Marcos Charles on July 17, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has instituted strict new dress and appearance standards for deportation officers conducting street and field operations. Under the updated policy, officers are prohibited from wearing plain civilian clothes such as jeans, T-shirts, and hoodies during public arrests and community enforcement operations. Instead, ICE officers are required to wear standardized ICE-branded polo shirts, brown or khaki pants, visibly displayed badges, and clearly marked vests during high-visibility operations.
