ICE plans to purchase electric-shock gloves for enforcement officers

  1. Original Date Announced

    August 10, 2026

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) signed a contract with Compliant Technologies LLC to spend up to $20 million on Generated Low Output Voltage Emitter (GLOVE) devices, gloves that emit electric shocks. According to DHS records, the new technology will be issued to Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) agents.

According to the Associated Press, the devices function as a normal pair of patrol gloves until officers press a switch to activate their electric mode. The gloves must be applied directly to someone’s skin to deliver a pain stimulus, which typically helps an officer gain compliance within seconds.
