February 17, 2025Bloomberg Law reports that Alberto Ruisanchez, the longtime chief of DOJ’s Immigrant and Employee Rights section, responsible for investigating immigration-related employment bias, has been replaced. Jennifer Deines, previously special policy counsel at IER, will fill the top spot on an acting basis.

2025.04.23_Reported: DOJ's Civil Rights Division's Immigrant and Employee Rights Section given new "mission statement" to investigate companies discriminating against U.S. workers
Reuters reports major changes to the DOJ's Civil Rights division. At least a dozen senior career attorneys have been reassigned and others have been encouraged to take a new round of deferred resignation offers. The new head of the division, Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon, has given each section within the division a new "mission statement." The Immigrant and Employee Rights Section was told it should investigate companies that "unlawfully discriminate against U.S. workers in favor of foreign visa workers."
