July 28, 2026The New York Times reports that ICE has expanded airport arrests beyond people with removal orders to include those with expired visas, many of whom have active green-card or work-permit applications and/or active work permits. This builds on a TSA-ICE information-sharing arrangement that began in May 2025, originally meant to flag travelers with removal orders. Enforcement actions under the expanded effort have occurred in at least 15 airports.
