April 11, 2026The Department of State announced that Secretary of State Rubio terminated the lawful permanent resident (LPR) statuses of three Iranian nationals with ties to the current Iranian government. Seyed Eissa Hashemi, Maryam Tahmasebi, and their son, are now in ICE custody pending removal. Mr. Hashemi is the son of Masoumeh Ebtekar, a former cabinet minister in Iran. The family entered the United States in 2014 on visas issued by the Obama administration.
The press release states that Secretary Rubio also terminated the legal statuses of: the niece and grandniece of deceased Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Major General Qasem Soleimani, as well as the daughter and son-in-law of former Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, Ali Larijani.
