The National Council of Jewish Women, Greater New Orleans Section (NCJW) filed suit to challenge the August 29, 2025 policy, which it terms the "Voter Assistance Ban." 2026.08.03 Opinion - League of Women Voters v. USCIS

U.S. District Judge Adam B. Abelson granted the League and NCJW's motions for a preliminary injunction on the First Amendment free speech and APA claims and the equal-protection claim. The order stays the USCIS Policy Manual updates' effective date pending a final ruling on the merits, and reinstates the Policy Manual version effective June 28, 2017, which permitted qualified NGOs to provide voter-registration services at administrative naturalization ceremonies.
